Alana Evans: gaming and writing

Streaming experiments, a magazine column and a cosplay judging assignment trace her involvement in gaming culture.

A streaming project in 2011

Evans launched PwnedByGirls in September 2011. In her 2019 interview she described building a setup that combined gameplay and camera feeds using multiple cameras and streams.

She later used OBS and recalled how much simpler that workflow had become. The interview follows an interest in games through the technical work required to present them to an online audience.

The Stoned Gamer

Her High Times column, The Stoned Gamer, began in March 2014. That June, reporting identified her review of Infamous Second Son for PlayStation 4.

Evans said she had read the magazine for years and welcomed the chance to write about gaming. The column gave her an editorial role alongside playing and livestreaming, with a published review under her name.

A cosplay assignment in Sydney

Organizers announced Evans and Lucie Bee as hosts and judges for the Sydney Sexpo Cosplay Competition in 2016. The event was scheduled for May 12–15 and described as the first such competition at Sydney Sexpo.

The announcement also included a space for cosplayers to meet other enthusiasts. It documents a planned hosting and judging role linked to her gaming and costume interests, without making assumptions about the competition results.
